Before sustainability became a trend, ROLF focused on crafting premium eyewear from locally sourced natural materials, combining design with quality. Based in Tyrol, Austria, this family-run brand specializes in wood, stone, natural horn, and 3D-printed eco-materials—handcrafted for a sustainable future. That’s the ROLF spirit!
A Family Eyewear Company
Founded in 2007 by Austrian couple Marija "Mary" Iljazovic and Roland Wolf, later joined by siblings Christian Wolf and Martin Iljazovic, ROLF aimed to create superior wooden eyeglasses. Perfecting prototypes in a basement workshop, they debuted at the 2009 Silmo trade show in Paris and won the Silmo d'Or Award, establishing their independent brand.
ROLF earned the "Masters of Wood" title, expanded into new materials, and gained global recognition for innovation and sustainability. With awards like the European Product Design Award and Red Dot Design Award, ROLF continues delivering Austrian-made designer eyewear.
The Design DNA of ROLF
ROLF’s minimalist designs blend timeless elegance with urban flair. Each pair undergoes strict quality control, requiring hours of work and 78 steps from raw material to finished frames.
Innovation is key, with patents like wooden frame lens mounting and "Woodstone" frames—wood layered with stone. Maintenance-free screwless hinges also feature a stop function for durability.
Love for Natural Materials
Natural materials define ROLF. Beginning with Tyrolean wood, they introduced eucalyptus blends with maple or oak and the Monoceros collection of ethically sourced natural horn. Horn is crafted by bending a single piece around the frame. The Substance Collection features plant-based 3D-printed frames, showcasing their commitment to sustainability and innovation.
